Dr. Myriah Hinchey is a Connecticut Licensed Naturopathic Physician, Certified Defeat Autism Now!® Clinician, Lyme Literate Physician and Certified Medical Acupuncturist. Dr Hinchey practices integrative naturopathic medicine for the whole family and additionally specializes in the reversal and prevention of Chronic Disease. Dr Hinchey’s treatment approach relies heavily on the principals of Functional Medicine and Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) as well as, Biomedical treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Pervasive Development Disorder, and ADHD. To put it simply, Dr Hinchey identifies the underlying physiological/biochemical cause of a patient’s symptoms and then teaches him/her how to correct it by making simple but effective changes to their lifestyle often utilizing a combination of nutrition, supplementation, exercise, stress management, acupuncture and massage therapy.

Dr. Hinchey completed her bachelor degree in psychology from the University of Connecticut in 2000, receiving the New England Scholar Award. After completing her Pre-Medical requirements, Dr Hinchey earned her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from The University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005. Dr Hinchey completed an advanced preceptorship with Dr Debra Anastasio who specializes in treating children with neurodevelopmental disorders and women’s reproductive health. In 2009, Dr Hinchey completed additional training with DAN! Clinician, Dr Nancy O’Hara where she learned hands on how to treat children on the autism spectrum as well as those with severe ADHD.

In 2009, Dr Hinchey began to further her studies to understand the complex and often devastating effects of Lyme disease and co-infections. Dr Hinchey attends the International Lyme and Associated Disease Society’s Annual conference to keep up with the current ILADS treatment guidelines. Dr Hinchey takes an integrative approach to treating Lyme disease encouraging patients to follow ILADS treatment protocol as well as using herbal protocols that have been studied extensively by Master Herbalist, Stephen Buhner.  Dr Hinchey believes that the focus must include normalizing immune system function and balancing the body in order to completely eradicate the disease. In 2012, Dr Hinchey mentored with ILADS physician Dr Tom Moorcroft to further her knowledge of how to use an integrative approach to treat Chronic Lyme Disease and other tick borne illness.

Dr. Hinchey has been a licensed massage therapist since 1998, specializing in CORE myofascial release, acupressure, and deep tissue massage, integrating the Japanese healing art of Reiki into her sessions. Additionally, Dr Hinchey received her certificate in Medical Acupuncture for Physicians from Briarwood College in 2006. She is also certified in Facial Rejuvenation with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs from the Swedish Institute in New York City and completed training in Auricular Acupuncture for Chemical Dependency and Detoxification at the Lincoln Recovery Center in the Bronx, New York.

Most recently, Dr Hinchey obtained her certification for First Line Therapy (FLT) and has been using Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) as the main focus of her practice.  Teaching patients how to make simple but crucial lifestyle choices on a daily basis has been the most challenging but effective medicine thus far.

Dr. Hinchey is a member of the Connecticut Naturopathic Physician Association (CPNA) as well as a member of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society.
